Who goes there, clinging on the red metal
A former child who lost hope
Wait, give a moment for your head to settle
Why are you here? Can you not cope?

People walk by, you're just another hopeless soul
Stop, come back to me
You've sunken deep into this depression hole
But escape is easy, you just need to see

Don't get any closer, please
You have a story that needs to be told
You're too far out now, no-one can seize
A few people are watching now, watching this unfold

In an instant you disappear in the air
You're flying past us now at such a great speed
I called out to you, I was there, I cared
Will death for you actually succeed?

You hit the water and vanish under
Some gasp, others simply turn away
People look over the railings in wonder
You're gone, you could have stayed

You are free, no longer suffering this
You had a future but a troubled past
You didn't see the hope from your darkened abyss
I walk away, you're just another jumper and won't be the last
I wrote this on the spot after watching a fascinating nevertheless shocking documentary about suicide at the Golden Gate Bridge in California. It's strange to think that one minute someone's there and the next, they're not. I myself, have attempted suicide, but this documentary has truly changed my life...
